Firefox off topic?
« on: December 29, 2012, 11:39:35 PM »
Does anyone else get a "firefox not responding" message at the top of the GUI?  ???
Neither the mouse nor the touchpad work. FF seems to just seize up.  ???

Yes, along with 100% CPU. In my case, it turned out to be two wonky addons:

FDM plugin 1.5.5 (not compatible with FF 17.0.1)
BD Traffic Light (resource intense when opening many tabs at once)

Try disabling a couple addons at a time and see if you can narrow it down.

With regard to FDM, ver. 1.5.7.7 has been out a few days and that seems to work just fine with the latest Firefox (release channel versions, that is).  You'll probably have to go to the FDM site for it, since I don't think it's in Mozilla's extensions pages, or didn't used to be.

Tried that first thing. Nothing.

Yes, thanks MikeBCda, that is the version I have since updating to FDM 3.9.2 (http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=9671.msg879108#msg879108).

If the problem recurs, you may want to look at Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode, including the reset FF option. (you can change your OS and FF version at top, if necessary). Also see Problematic extensions.
