Windows 8 Pro + Avast 7.0.1474 Internet Speed

Anyone have a solution for avast killing internet speed when the shields are up?

I have tried setting Windows Firewall to default = didn't solve anything.

When I run a speedtest.net with avast shields running, I can clearly see something is wrong with my internet speed.

When I run a speedtest.net with avast shields disabled, I get the correct internet speeds.

Any help would be appreciated.

(I'm using the free version of avast).

There is a difference (which is to be expected)  but nothing earth shattering.

Seems to be happening to me also.

Slow and sometimes drops the internet connection. "Problem loading page" errors.

There's no problem with the site (because I've just viewed it a few seconds ago, even clicking the back button doesn't help). It just loads after clicking the refresh button/F5 keys, sometimes loads the website.

I will still claim something is terribly wrong with Avast and Windows 8, I just hope someone will come up with a solution soon.
