Webrep chrome plugin and runaway CPU
« on: February 01, 2013, 04:38:37 AM »
Hello, a very odd thing happened just now.  I Opened Google Chrome and heard my CPU fan start to spin up...and up and up and up, it was audible to others well across the room.  Open the task manager to see Chrome running away with CPU and mem usage, the memory was almost 2G used (4 total in this PC).

Closed Chrome, it quickly spun down.  Clicked to open again and the same thing, but this time I killed the chrome process (there were several) with the high cpu/mem usage and saws a popup from Avast saying that "Avast Web rep extension has crashed, click here to restart".  I did, same result.

Found out how to uninstall the web rep plugin from Chrome, did so, and it is now running just fine.

All in all ,very strange.  I was last on several hours ago and all was fine.  I left the Webrep plugin installed for Internet Explorer, no issues there at all.
