Anti Theft could not connect Google Cloud to Device Messaging.

I have avast! Mobile Security set up on my other tablet with anti theft installed with NO problems. The tablet I am trying to get it to work on is a Hipstreet Flare (HS-9DTB4-8GB). I go to log into my avast! account to enable anti theft, but after I enter everything correctly and I hit connect, it says "Could not connect Google Cloud to Device Messaging (PHONE_REGISTRATION_ERROR). Please make sure you Google account is set up correctly." Thing is, I am not using my Google account to log in and I already have synced my Gmail to my tablet. Is there anything more I have to do, or have I just done something wrong?
