Avast Free and Comodo Firewall Free
« on: February 18, 2013, 12:35:49 PM »
Is there any slow downs on Windows OS if you have Avast Free and installed Comodo Firewall Free? Is it okay to install Comodo Firewall Free and are there any conflict between this program and Avast Free?

1. No.
2. If you only install the FW of CIS, you should be ok.

On the Comodo forums there are still people having problems with Avast's webshield bypassing Comodo's firewall.

Avast Free 20.3.2405 - Comodo 12.2.2.7036 Firewall with D+ - Winpatrol Free.

Still? I thought Comodo had fixed this. This is a problem with the Comodo firewall and not avast's webshield. It's the firewall's job to block connections.

Well, most people on Avast's forums blame Comodo, most people on Comodo's forums blame Avast. Which hasn't helped me at all. The problem in question has been sorted out for me in the latest Comodo update, but not for other people.

You brought it up so I responded to it. Did you think it would go unnoticed? I find it funny that a firewall's job is to control inbound and outbound traffic and when it doesn't do its job the blame is placed elsewhere.

What if the behavior blocker is set to block? Will it be OK then?
I have Opera, WOT, K9 Web Protection, Avast Free web shield and Behavior blocker only, Comodo Internet Security 10, and common sense. ^_^

I disabled the behavior blocker in Comodo FW since there could be a conflict with avast.
You really don't need the Comodo behavior blocker as avast has both a behavior shield and the autosandbox.
By disabling the CFW behav. blocker you cut down on creating an endless stream of rules.  :)

The only major conflict with Comodo is the Sandbox is the only thing need to be disable not the D+, I believe the Comodo behavior blocker belong to the D+ you can only have one sandbox running is Avast autosandbox and not Comodo while having the D+ running.

Yes, definitely!
HIPS is the main reason I use CFW.
I also stealthed all my ports in CFW.  8)

To test your ports as far as stealth goes use http://www.grc.com/intro.htm
Click "Services">click "ShieldsUp>click "Proceed">run all the tests you want. It's free.  8)
