Error Message: "Unable to start scan. Not enough storage is available..."

I'm running Avast 7.0.1474 on Windows 8 and even though I have upwards of 250 GB of disk space and 8GB of RAM, I'm getting the error that there is not enough storage to process the command to scan my computer. Help, please?
