Are you sure? It is working fine here.
What tells you/make you think it doesn't?

Don't you have some HTTP proxy set up in the Internet Explorer?

no changes in "last tested" and in 'n° of tests" under IE whereas it changes with Firefox

No proxy settings...

No proxy settings...

Make sure your browser is not set to "Work Offline" (this option is generally in the File menu). If it doesn't help, try switching the proxy settings from "Auto-detect" to "No proxy" (I'm assuming you're not connecting to the Internet via proxy).

Left click the avast icon > Settings
Update (Basic) > Details > Proxy

it would be in your HTTP proxy setting that you set up, are you sure its let to 127.0.0.1  ON port 12080 (im thinknig maybe a typo)

Nope

 :-[ :-[ solved hurray !!! :D

it was a proxy settings problem (my provider had set his proxy when installing the usb modem and launcher......) and i was checking my local network proxy instead of my connection settings  :-[

Thanks to you all avasts  evangelists !!!

cvsa thanks for changing your subject (solved) - I wish this would become the usual practice, it makes things so much more comprehensible.

anyway, if you want to use your ISP provider's proxy server together with avast's webshield, you can setup your original proxy to the avast4.ini

[WebScanner]
UpstreamProxyHost=proxy.your-isp.net
UpstreamProxyPort=8080

(replace the real values)

Note for WinNT/XP users: this option is available only in direct proxy mode - when no proxy is set in the browser and avast is used transparently by redirecting port 80, upstream proxy does not work.

Cheers, Lukas.
