I've just noticed this phenomenon on mine.
Running Avast 8.0.1489 on Windows 7 (64-bit), wasn't sure if this was virus related, as the
? scan picked up the first virus I've had in a couple of years.
Scans seem to be generating, at 5 currently.

Been having the same issues with my version of Avast.
I have 3 (
? custom scans) which scans all hard drives.
I've tried to delete all three. They appeared to be deleted until I changed to some other page in the avast menu and when I returned to Scans, they were all fully regenerated as if I had done nothing.
Secondly, I tried to delete some scan ranges and enter some exclusions. However, once I had saved and attempted to re-edit those settings, they too were automatically reset to scan all hard drives with no exclusions.
Also, doing a selective file/folder scan via windows explorer caused a blank Avast window to popup with a close button, and a
? scan initiated with a scan of all hard drives instead of the selection I made.
Has anyone made any progress in this area?
No worries, I just uninstalled, rebooted, and reinstalled Avast without further incident.
