I have created an new VM in Virtualbox with Windows 7 32 bit as the guest OS on a Windows XP pro host. After completing the OS install I downloaded Avast 8 and installed. When I came to the final screen of the install with the smiley face, I clicked ok to reboot. The VM hung on that screen and I had to force a shut down. When I restarted the VM it hung on the black screen with the pulsing four color windows emblem. I again had to force a shut down and restart in safe mode. I removed Avast 8 and restarted, the system functioned properly. I restarted and shut down several times with no problem.
I tried to reinstall Avast 8 two more times with the same results as the first. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this problem?
