It would be possible to stop the antivirus scan and then being able to continue from the same folder or file where it was stopped.
I do not mean Pause, but, for example, stop the scan, and continue from where it left tomorrow.
I do not know if this option exists  in Avast possibilities, at least I have not seen.

the screensaver scan does that....it starts with the screensaver.....when interupted it remeber where it was and continue from there when it start again
