PUP.bProtector Assistance Needed
« on: March 28, 2013, 08:47:23 AM »
I came across this forum while searching for some ways to get rid of this thing, and I actually also use Avast as my antivirus.

I noticed it on my computer a couple of weeks ago and kind of forgot and then this evening I noticed it again and decided to try to get rid of it. I followed a lot of step by step's on how to remove it manually, and while I've got a decent amount of computer skill, I couldn't quite locate everything that was suggested and didn't want to do more harm than good.

I was hoping someone could be of assistance in some way or another.

Informational stuff: I have an HP Pavilion g7 laptop running Windows 7, I first detected it with Super Anti Spyware, and I think Malware Bytes picked it up too, but I can't recall.

I can certainly provide any other information that may be needed.

I did just that, and it detected nothing. Perhaps because I deleted some of the files last night. I did run the Super Anti Spyware again and it still detected one file, there were five last night.

Here is that log:

I obviously did not include the tracking cookies. Last night I had deleted cookies on every browser I have, I also removed all add-ons and extensions.
