I think some people have it installed here and nobody complained about memory consumption. I'll see if I can find time to test it by myself today.

Hi,

I've done some tests myself and it seems the discussed issue may be caused by:
- large games installing thousands of files/folders "forever" changing and
- some/most social network apps (i.e. Facebook is notorious for storing large cache of files having some names incompatible with many storage media - that in turn might cause Android mediaserver or the scanner to run extensively)

Well, I'm experiencing crashes and even reboots with avast! File Shield ON and Rom Toolbox Pro backuping apps+data.
I'm blaming Rom Toolbox, or, better, I'm trying to solve with their support.
Could it be avast! fault?

Hi guys,

can you both try disabling read scanning if you have it on? It should be better with write scanning only. If not, let me know.

Mine is already on scan only on writing.
Can you check an aLogcat I've generated while using avast! + Rom Toolbox and the phone is crashing? I'll also send my phone specs.
I know it's not your business, but, maybe you can help me...

Hi,

the problem is that the log gets cleared after reboot so there is nothing in the log you sent :( If you start some procedure in ROM Toolbox which reboots the device after, for example, 1 minute, I need a log from that minute. Preferably create an empty "avast-debug" file on your SD card and reboot your device to enable more logs from AMS.

Hello!
i have a nice "make-a-log"-step-by-step guide:

Please proceed as follows:

a)   Create an empty file called "avast-debug" on your /sdcard root directory (on Android 4.x phones there might be a user subdirectory in the sdcard path - if yes use that)
The "avast-debug" file will stay empty, as it's existence is only a flag for the app to generate more detailed log output, which you'll send later.
b)   REBOOT your phone
c)   Now Avast generates a lot of log
d)   Try to reconstruct your problem
e)   After that, open Mobile Security or Anti-Theft (depending in which product your problem occurs) and go to the feedback screen (About)
f)   Check “Send system log”
g)   Create a case there giving your email address and mention this conversation as well as a short description of the problem (maybe someone else will get the case)
h)   Then remove the avast-debug file again
i)   REBOOT your phone
j)   Everything back to normal

although you might want to send the log directly to mr. Havlicek instead of creating a support case.

Hi Werner,

This  "make-a-log"-step-by-step guide could go on the avast! Mobile: FAQ - General support page, https://support.avast.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=1034.

Don't know exactly what the sub-title in the 'Other Questions' section of the support page might be 'How do I create an avast-debug log file,' perhaps.

Forget it. Manage myself.
Create a txt file in the computer, moved to the sdcard, rename removing the extension.

Well, the phone freezes and I cannot collect any of the aLogCat data.
I need to use QtADB for that.
In my computer, the latest lines in the log are:

Hm, there is nothing from AMS there. After creating the avast-debug file, do you see any messages from AMS during normal operation? I'm pretty sure you can recognize it cause there is going to be a lot of them.

Indeed, seems not to be related. I was testing the AMS beta and the problem arrived. I've thought they could be related.
The developers of Rom Toolbox have already put the issue in the bug list. Now I have to wait  8)

Thanks Filip.
