Just in case someone wants to configure Avast firewall to allow virtual machines full access through the firewall.
I'm using VmWare workstation and I configure it so that each VM has it's own IP address but they are all an the same network (using DHCP). I set the firewall zone to Home but it still blocked some traffic. Initially no traffic was going through then I enabled 'Internet Connection sharing mode' in the FW and now I can get through most traffic. I still see some IGMP packets being blocked but that may not be an issue.
