web shield blocks FreeDNS update to retrieve current IP

When I run FreeDNS update to return my current IP address, an error occurs, but it does work when I stop the web shield.  I have tried to add a few exclusions to the WEB shield but to no avail.  Does anyone have any ideas about this??
