Windows 8 Mail App - E-mail shield not working

Hello,

For few days now I've a new laptop with Windows 8 64bit (got used to the Modern UI, not so scary). I've decided to use the Windows 8 Mail App from the Start Screen. I've configured my accounts, mostly Gmail, few Gmail in Google Apps, no problem there.
Unfortunately incoming/outcoming mail is not being scanned by the e-mail shield as it used to be on my previous laptop with Windows 7 and Windows Live Mail.
I do know that I'm sort of protected, as the messages are being processed by Avast as any other file in the System File Shiled (or whatever the name is, you know, the one that checks every opened file on the computer). Still, it would be nice to have a e-mail shield working.

Any turtorial, or maybe the Windows 8 Mail App is not supported?
