Transfering license to a new installation.
« on: April 26, 2013, 03:47:11 PM »
I recently bought a new solid state disk drive. As a result I plan to wipe/erase my current installation of Windows. May someone please tell me how generate the license file currently in use by Avast.

I believe I deleted the file I downloaded from my e-mail, for security reasons.

I ordered 3 total unique licenses for 3 different computers. I've already used 2 of them on 2 different computers.

I'm worried, re-installing the operating system on the same computer, would render the 3rd remaining license used/obsolete.

I did come across this link though: http://www.avast.com/resend-license-paid.php

If you have removed the third licensed version from the system your upgrading then there should be no issues with reinstalling avast and getting the email resent via the link you have there ( same link Eddy has posted ).

Re-installing won't render the 3rd license used/obsolete. You have a license for 3PCs you will still be using it on only 2PCs as essentially you in wiping the current installation, then reinstalling on the SDD (total still 2PCs).

The avast license doesn't restrict you to X number of installs/re-installs, etc. but up to 3 unique (active) installations. What you can't do is have it installed on more than 3PCs at a time. So you can as mentioned use the resend license function to recover/be sent a copy of your original license.

Note that the 3rd license you have is counting down anyway as the license period starts at the point of purchase not the point of installation/registration.
