Wanted: Files scanned with error 42003 - "Internal Program Error"

How large is the file? Can you send it to me by email? Or can you put it somewhere so I could download it?

Does the problem happen even if you disable archive scanning?

Is that fresh enough for you?

I'm not able to simulate the problem... can you tell me something more about the case, please?

- what is your OS?
- how did you run the scan? (Simple/Enhanced User Interface, what task settings...)
- does the problem happen again when you repeat the scan?
- when you copy the files into some other folder and run the scan again, does the "internal error" happen again?

Win XP SP1

I ran a scheduled scan the settings for the scan are:

• It was set in enhanced mode.
• Scan all packers
• Scan all hard disks

(I don't see any other special settings that I should mention.)

I attach the report file.
If I right click on the folder and scan it with the on-demand scanner, I do not get any errors.

Just a note that the scheduled scanner tonight indicated the above errors on the same files again. However, I can not reproduce this if I scan the files by demand.

I don't know if it may cause any difference - but when the scheduled scan was performed, were you logged on or off?

I was loggod on.

Could the screensaver make a difference? Obviously when I do on demand scanning the screensaver is off, when it is scheduled it is on.

I doubt it... if there was a conflict with screensaver, it would concern random files - not these ones every time.

Btw, are you using avast! screensaver?

Yes. I did in both cases. I turned it off now.

I have scanned several times with avast!4 and have not gotten the error 42003.  

Just as a side note to other comments, I'm using W98SE with 640 megs of ram. My computer shuts down faster with avast!4 than it did the last anti-virus program I had ... McAfee ... what a resource hog!

Now, when someone asks me about anti-virus programs, I recommend avast! always. Great work on this to all involved!
