Avast found a Virus in Avast?!?
« on: June 09, 2013, 10:25:33 PM »
Avast just scanned and found bicololo-v Trojan in an Avast log file. That's right, it was found in an Avast file folder. Shouldn't I be worried?

With a username like that, I'd really worry. :)

I would like an answer to this too...and I"m real. Shortly after windows loaded I saw that it blocked a Trojan. I caught a glimpse of a path - file.avast.....I clicked 'more details' and I was sent to a webpage that stated the trojans name and that was all. I accidentally closed the window so I can't tell you the exact path. I also can't find a log file in the program file or the program ui. The file isn't in my virus chest either so I have no idea what Avast did with it. I ran a quick scan and nothing was found. Where is that Trojan-gen?

I've used Avast for over a decade and have been very happy with it. However, over the past six months or so I've had to re-register a few times, which makes me wonder if I was directed to a fake Avast site. I gave the same email address that I've had for years but it asked for my email's password, which I'm not prepared to give out. And I see that I'm still Not Connected in the General tab, presumably because of that. Are there any websites out there that pretend to be Avast? And do you really want my email password?

I'm sorry for asking two questions, but I feel that both questions deserve an answer besides a comment about someone's username.

No issue, it was a mistake on our part. And it seems that it will be my penance to apologize to each of our few hundred thousands affected users in just few minutes. :)

Thanks! Is any action required to repair something this might have affected on our PCs?

No actions are necessary, it was a rather quick attempt to fix people having issues updating to new version. Unfortunately, it was too quick to get on our VPS whitelist. We'll fix it in the morning.

Can you please calrify what you mean with new version? Did the problem only occur for people running the beta version or really old versions? Im using v9.2008 atm and havn't seen the virus warning? Thanks

EDIT: okay my fault. I havn't seen that v9.2011 was released yesterday. So this emupdate only affected people trying to update?
