High CPU usage with win2k
« on: April 14, 2005, 03:40:27 PM »
Hi,

Was experiencing high cpu usage today and it turned out to be the Avast software.

With 'all files' selected under 'scan created/modified files' option on the 'scanner (advanced) tab of Standard Sheild, I get very high cpu usage. This is the default setting, as far as I know, that did not cause this problem when I used the software yesterday.

Does anyone know why this should happen and is it okay to have this option deselected?

You can have an infected file being saved or modified in your computer.
But avast will caught it when the code is being executed.
In other words, it's safe most time as avast will stop virus to be executed but the user can feel uncomfortable and unsafe having a virus silently 'sleeping' in his computer...
