Trouble installing NetClient from ADNM

I have installed ADNM as on a Windows 2003 Server (SP1) and setup ADNM with MSDE.
 
I have setup tasks to discover computers on my domain, and all computers were successfully discovered.
 
I have setup a Deployment Package, and created a Client-Side Task to install this package.
 
 
My problem.
 
I am unable to install if I use the Domain/Account for the Login Account.
 
If I use ComputerName/Administrator then it installs perfectly.
 
 
  • I am on a domain.
  • I have verified that the Domain/Account/Passwords are all correct.
  • I can login to the computer using the Domain/Account so I know the permissions are correct.

 
Please help.  I would like to install the NetClient on 30+ computers but I don't want to create an individual Deployment Task for each computer in my network.

Please post the contents of the "remote install log" (ADNM Console -> View -> AMS Logs -> Remote Install).

Are the machines really in a domain? If not, this problem is almost always caused by the fact the "Simple File Sharing" is enabled on the clients.

It seems that in the Deployment Task, on the Logon page, the account name is not specified correctly. It's missing the domain name.

Instead of

administrator

it needs to contain

OAK\administrator

to let avast know this is a domain Administrator account, not a local one. Please see the Note in that dialog box, or also the appropriate section of the Administrator's Guide - this important detail is explained there.

Unfortunately, this didn't make much difference.

ok I was able to install on remote workstations as follows.

Domain: *
Account: OAK\Administrator
Password: ********

I was also having trouble installing on my two Win2003 Servers, but I realized that I was using the NetClient in the Install Package when I should have created a new Install Package using the NetServe.

All seems to be working well now.

I'm not use to having quite so much versitility.
Sorry about the lame questions/problems. What can I say, I'm a recovering TrendMicro user.  ;)

Its really not that bad. The user interface is quite good. Though not as configurable as !Avast.

But after one of their AutoUpdates all the computers in my office (30+)  had CPU's max'd at 100% usage for 3 days.  Trends response was "Sorry."

Maybe thats how they fight viruses.  Max out the CPU and no virus can get enough cycles in to install themselves...


I've run !Avast at home for over a year now with great success. So I'm trying it at work now.  It looks as though it will be successful in a Corporate environment also...
