winsxs files identified as virus
« on: August 13, 2013, 10:22:45 PM »
Hi

Avast did a full scan and identified 19 files of winsxs as virus. Action requested was to move to chest. However these file are not moved to chest but I can see them in scan log. I did try to move it to chest but it's not happening. Just realized all the 19 files are very critical for my laptop. I need to restore them. Please advice how do I do that ?

you say they are not moved to chest....
then why do you need to restore them!!!... you cant resore files that are not in the chest.  ;)

what virus name did avast give these files?
what was the full location path to these files?

you may attach screenshot of the scan results

Winsxs is part of the windows update area, were you updating windows at the time or just prior to the scan
