Little Snitch: curl wants to connect
« on: August 20, 2013, 06:25:47 PM »
Every few hours or so I get this request "curl wants to connect to some avast URL..." What5 is this about and is this normal? I hesitate to give this request full permission.

Thanks

Probably the Avast update process? Has your Avast been automatically updating?

We use curl for the program/VPS updates, so Yes, it is normal.

I use curl.exe too, why does Avast suddenly insists it has a virus when I start it? When I scan it with Avast, it says clean. Malwarebytes also says clean. right now, I have no choice but to turn off avast since I need to use curl, theres no way around it.

Hello,
can you post screenshot of Avast's detection? Or report false positive on http://support.avast.com/ -> Avast Virus Lab

Thanks,
Milos

I ran into the same problem with the "curl.exe" that's bundled with the latest Git version (1.9.5). This is the warning given by Avast:

Avast File system shield has blocked a threat.
    No further action is required.

    Object: C:\Program Files (x86)\Git\bin\curl.exe
    Infection: FileRepMalware
    Action: Removed
    Proces: C:\Porgram Files (x86)\Git\bin\curl.exe

The threat was detected and blocked before the file could be executed.

See this screenshot for the original version, in Dutch: http://i.imgur.com/d0AGrAJ.png

I'm using Avast 2015.10.0.2208, virus definition version 150127-0.

The file is clean according to Virustotal (Detection ration: 0/55). I'll upload it to the Avast Virus Las a false positive.
