Here is the new FRST.txt attached.

To avoid confusion, please be aware that:

When I boot from USB/run FRST64.exe:
  • USB drive = H:
  • SSD drive = C:  (this is the sick drive)
When I boot from my secondary boot drive (Main HD):
  • SSD drive = E:
  • Main HD = C:

Please let me know once you've downloaded.  Thank you again.

FRST reports the SSD as C
Quote
Drive c: (SSD) (Fixed) (Total:119.14 GB) (Free:30.61 GB) NTFS

However, Avast is not installed on that drive

So since I still have the same BSOD, is there anything else that can be done to fix the issue?

Unfortunately no as this appears again to be the MS update hitting a few unlucky people

Bummer.

Do you know the name/number/date of the problematic MS Update?  Perhaps Microsoft would have a solution if I can identify the MS Update.

Is this MS Update just an issue with Avast?

Thanks.

No it does affect several other programmes mainly DRM related

Thanks but that MS Update was from April 2013 and definitely not the issue.  I have been running perfectly right up until this first-time-Avast-installation made recently, almost 6 months after the MS Update was released.  I always install MS updates within a week after release date... so there is no chance this Update, if even on my system, was installed after May 2013.

Why do you believe an MS Update is the cause for the issue, and why, if it was installed in April, did it wait until I installed Avast in Aug/Sep to begin causing issues?  Are you sure my sick drive (SSD) has this KB2823324 Update?

The MS update may have been installed at the right time but because you were not running any programmes that were in conflict with it you did not experience the problem
As soon as a programme is installed that has the conflict then it will crash

So Avast has known about the Windows 'issue' for 6 months and hasn't addressed it in its own application updates, knowing its causing unrecoverable blue screen of death, and it wants to blame someone else/MS?

Why would anybody use software from a company that does this?

It does not affect every system for some reason and the cause is currently unknown

I have a windows 7 64 bit and experienced no problems at all

The link to Windows 7 Recovery Environment ISO X64 isn't working for me, when I click 'download' it redirects to the Probz forums root page. Perhaps I need to be a member, but it isn't accepting new membership applications. Can anyone provide an alternative link?

Edit:discovered I had a windows 7 disc I could use. New thread started http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=143519.0 with my FRST file.
