Please I nead help fast!!!!

I have problem with starting avast antivirus!!!!I have downloaded avast home from your page and installed it on my comp.Normally registered on your page and got that mail with license key...Now the problem....when i start avast the program shows me an error......storage cannot be created for Splash task....and there is an only option OK....when i click OK program shows me tkis screen....configuration is not loaded properly.Error:dbsCreateObject...So if you know how to fix this problem please say!!!

Avast version

Firewall-Installed

other utilities-ie Adaware spybot etc.

this problem is due to the old odbc drivers. to solve the problem open avast4.ini
usually found in C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA. open it  in the [common]
section  find the line database=odbc now change it to database=xml .now save the file and reboot .this should solve your problem

Possibly since we don't yet know his OS, and either doesn't know if this option in AEC is supported with non-nt os or they don't know about AEC.

8 hours after the urgent 'Please I need help fast!!!!' plea we still don't know what OS they use, perhaps it's not that urgent!!!!!!!!!

Thank you all for your time...but i still have the same problem....and still don't know how to fix it....i have tried all you sad to me and still nothing..... :'(.....once again thanx everyone and if anybody  know anything please help....because i really like avast....it is perfect antivirus..... ???

Vane, did you try changing from odbc to xml?
Did you try to repair your installation?
Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast! antivirus > Remove
Then choose Repair function in the popup window (Repair).
You must be connected to the internet while repairing.

If this does not help, can you uninstall / boot / install / boot again?

hey. i just got avast and im having the EXACT same problem as Vane.

im running windows xp professional sp1 and i have avast 4.6.

im going to try the already given suggestions right now.

put to you. The people of Avast are Extremely knowledgable helpful people but I don't think

any of them are mind readers :o I could be wrong!!! ;D
