FileShield crashes my programs
« on: October 28, 2013, 06:52:38 PM »
Yesterday I upgraded to the latest version of Avast and it has been causing problems. When I try to run Visual Basic 6 it works for about 5 seconds then crashes. I also have a program called GCC that I run from the command line that I use to make programs. When I start it it shows a window called "DeepScan" for a few seconds. That window disappears and then GCC hangs. I cannot close the command prompt window or GCC from the Task Manager. If I disable the FileShield everything works as expected.

What can I do?

Please do a clean install of avast.
Use the removal utility and install version 9 (2014)
After doing so let us know if the problem is solved or not.

If not, also mention in your next post:
- the os/service pack you are using.
- what other security (related) software you have (or had) installed.
