This is what I use on Win xp. You don't have to install it.

It is very much personal preference, e.g. the functions you are likely to need/require and how frequently you are likely to us it.

If it is infrequently there are several free versions, just try a search for screen capture software.
On my win7 netbook I have Ashampoo Snap 5.5.1, which I got as a freebie some time ago, often it si easy to find them giving away an older version. Hoping that you may upgrade.

For those that use them more frequently, you may go for a paid version with more features. On my XP Pro desktop I use SnagIt 10.0.2 by TechSmith, a paid version.

Thank you I will check that out!

DavidR, that is good info thank you.  I will not use frequently and I don't really have money to spend on it anyhow LOL.  I just want a safe place to get a down-load you know.  I got a virus once recently just from one of these support sites.

Why not use the "Print Scrn" button on your keyboard?

You could always look at the following topic:

You'll find quite a few free screen capture programs with descriptions as to what they do and how they work.
You'll also find many other programs in that thread. :)

I use Ashampoo Snap 6.0 which I upgraded from a free version. You can take a screen shot of an individual window, scrolling windows, freestyle, capture a video, etc. It also has plenty of editing tools. Before this, I used the Windows snipping tool.

The following reviews many of the free screen capture utilities and lists many more.
