I don't get it, why 3 stage complication? But i don't see nothing too special with this one. There are several hybrid types of malware that are "assembled" from best parts of spyware,trojans,worms and backdoors.

You are right, but viruses get a more complicated upbuild all the time. The spreading is classical through either an event of social engineering (mail) or through unpatched software holes or existing vulnerabilities. The additional malware becomes more refined, trojans, bots, scamware. For the glieder see:
