Emai problem
« on: December 03, 2013, 12:16:31 AM »
Hi: I subscribe to some email lists from Israel.
Strangely, they are constantly under attack from ddos, and all sorts of malware.
I've never had anything questionable from these mailing lists.

Sunday & 2 emails today gave me the following message from AVAST.

avast!: Message body was removed because it contained a virus.

and that's it.

so how do I go about receiving my mail?

What's the virus?

It's a bit on the Spartan side for a message.

thank you

John

hmmm. Never heard of this case or that saying. If you don't mind an you attach a screenshot. And for your protection black-out any present email addresses.

Also, Can you run MBAM/OTL and aswMBR (Win 7 only for aswMBR) (Then I can ask someone to come help you to remove any malware present)

[Edit]: 1 more thing, If Avast! is alerting to any kind of URL can you post it? Please make sure you disable the link that way no one else can/will be affected.

I don't see avast alerting to any url.

I must be missing something, I don't seem to be able to attach the screenshot.

Hi again: As part of trying to chase this down,
I contacted the mailing list, here's their reply.

Dear Mr.

Thank you for your email.

We have run a battery of tests, and can assure you that no virus was in fact included with the MEMRI email. For an undetermined reason, avast! is incorrectly indicating to many of its clients that MEMRI emails contain a virus. We are working to rectify this issue, but please know that no virus is in fact present.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Sincerely,
Elliot Zweig
MEMRI

Hi: I've run MBAM - SuperAntiSpyware, and aswMBR  and everything comes up clean.

I've also gone and emptied all my browser caches, plus all the hidden temp folders I could find.
the scans come back clean.  Then I received another email from MEMRI and Still have the same problem.

thank you

John

This has gone 8 days with no response to my updates.

Is there nothing a body can do?

I can understand people being busy, but sheesh there was a whole mail list having problems here.
