Winrar SFX False positives!
« on: December 09, 2013, 05:44:04 PM »
Hi!

From time to time, avast decides that almost all Winrar SFX archives are "infected" with some vage "evo-gen" virus. This is TOTALLY bogus. Can someone PLEASE FIX IT!!!!
Usually after a while, it is fixed, but will come back again (like now).

if you think this is wrong....

You can upload files and report issues to avast  here : http://www.avast.com/contact-form.php  (select subject according to Your case)

You can use mail
send to virus@avast.com in a password protected zip file
mail subject:  False Positive / undetected sample (select subject according to your case)
zip password:  infected

or you can send files from avast chest
how to use the chest.    http://www.avast.com/faq.php?article=AVKB21

Every time I face this issue, I report the false positive. It usually gets fixed within a few days. I just don't know why it comes back again after a few months. It's really annoying, avast deletes or blocks SFX archives I use/create for no reason.
