Win XP, Zero-Day Threats on the Rise

Hello!

So I think I got the name right (Might be Zero-Hour threats). Anyways, when Microsoft discontinues the updates for Win XP, obviously people will start making new threats and it will quickly swell in numbers. But any idea on what the numbers will be? I only ask because most of my household computer run Win XP. (Dad's Comp, Sister's etc). We have a solution and that's to disconnect them from the internet to protect other computers but I think that's going a little far.

Anyways, as only 2 of our computers are w/ Avast and the rest don't really go online I was just curious if it's better w/ Avast + Comodo or just to isolate the computers. Both me and my dad do know a far amount about this as he works for a University, but he still doesn't have an idea on timing

Keep using avast and CFW for protection.

If you guys know how to use the HIPS (D+) in Comodo, you should be OK.

The thing to bear in mind is that Vista is a halfway house between XP and 7, so any updates to Vista may well expose security loopholes in XP which is not being patched.   Follow the normal safe surfing rules and you should be reasonably safe

I do use CFW w/D+ 
And all ports are in stealth mode.

I converted many "older" XP computers to Windows 8.1 without any problems.
Unless your PC is a dinosaur, it will probably run Windows 8.1 better than it currently runs XP.

Absolutely, the great little HP I now use as production unit, I converted from xp to Win8 and of course now W8.1 and runs way better, less resources and tons more secure.

I've heard many bad things about 8.1. I hated the original one and same with my dad. My sister nor mother have used 8 yet.

I've been using Windows 8 since very early beta days. It's gotten better over time.
