Eronious Installation on a Coby Kyros
« on: December 20, 2013, 05:19:53 PM »
My niece has a Coby Kyros Android tablet.  It is/was infected so I did a hard reset and wiped the memory.  It doesn't use Google Play to obtain apps but rather GetJar.   I used GetJar to download and install Avast Mobile Security.  Once open, I get a screen displaying many links to a RdxPunJab.iN site.
It is obvious that Avast never installed.

Do I have an infection still causing this app to be blocked?
How might you suggest I purge said infection so to be able to install Avast?
Am I downloading a fake app from the GetJar app store?
If so how do I download a legitimate app since I am unable to use the google site?  (I have tried extensively to force the installation of the Google Play software.)

Any suggestions you could give me would be most appreciated.

Hi,

try installing AMS from Opera Apps for example (it lets you download .apk file of the app which you can install manually).

Thank you.  I was able to download the app and install it.  I appreciate the help as I am quite PC savvy but beyond a novice on the tablet.
