Message in mail

These are my Avast settings, yet I still get the message in clean incoming mail.

Yes, it does that on mine too.  Turn off the message insert for all events and it is still there.

It may be due to importing settings from a previous version, at one point I had the message twice on every email received and sent.

Or being cynical avast just want to spam more poeple with their URL ))

Strange this doesn't happen on my inbound emails.

Where are you viewing this, not the email headers, as they will always be in there. But it shouldn't be in the body of the email.

Test email , Mail Shield set to NOT insert messages.

But isn't that the Outbound message having been branded and you seeing it at the bottom of the email, if you also had the Inbound message option checked, wouldn't you have two messages ?

I have never seen the point of branding inbound emails if they were infected I would expect the audible/visual alert popup. For a very long time I used the outbound message as a means of spreading the word to others about avast

Do you have any changes in the C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\EmailShield.ini, I have some in mine, but I don't know if they are historic settings having modified the .ini file some time ago.

Hmm, the entries for the insert notices are doubled up .......

I edited the file, will see what happens.

I know the avast notice has been there , I had emails from my ISP a few days ago and the avast note is clearly there.

Personally I have no issue with it being there ......

It's working here exactly as it should.

If I have a tick in only the "incoming" one, it will show a message in every incoming email that has been scanned by Avast.

If I also tick the "outgoing one", then if I send a test email to myself, the received one will have two Avast messages.

If I untick both, then there is no message present in the received back email.

I have also confirmed correct operation of the tick selections by corresponding with another Avast 2014 user.

I just sent my self an email from AOL to Gmail, the message has stopped & I never made any changes to Avast settings.

Whilst I think that putting an Avast message in an outgoing email does little other than provide free advertising for Avast (it certainly doesn't offer any guarantee for the recipient), I have recently gone back to inserting the message in incoming emails.

I'm using that as a simple and quick visual indicator that each email has actually been scanned. I know I could check for the X-Antivirus time stamp and clear lines in the message source, but the inserted message requires no extra work on my part.
