Question about a concern
« on: February 25, 2014, 06:22:07 AM »
I use Avast Free 2014 and today when I logged into Windows 7 I noticed that my avast tray icon and my avast widget did not show up (happened just out of the blue but I will reboot and see if it happens again).  apparently the avast services did not start up with Windows but I was able to start the services in the Avast panel.  Now usually when I see something like an antivirus not starting I get concerned (out of experience) but so far I have not seen anything else in windows that hints to a problem (no action center warnings, no inability to update malware programs, etc.).  One thing I did have a problem with for a bit was Windows installers installing more than just the software I wanted (PUPS) even when I know I declined the extra installs but from what I've seen they were all removed by Malwarebytes and other scans come up with nothing.   If anyone might know if Avast services not starting is just a rare hiccup or something might be behind it I would appreciate it, its just that since my last bad infection I am more concerned about Windows being compromised. Thanks.

Repair avast!:
1. Control Panel -> Add/Remove programs -> avast!
2. Click on 'Repair'.
3. Follow instructions.
4. Reboot.
