An/All Avast Shield/s blocking alot of things
« on: March 08, 2014, 01:59:16 PM »
Currently blocks logging off(restart and shutdown, infinite log off circle), blocks sound volume window when clicking on sound icon on taskbar(so i cant access mixer, doesnt work through control panel either), blocking access to system restore(both creating a system restore(just goes to computer properties and restore tab info has vanished) and with accessing the system restore window outright). Other than that it works fine

I have uninstalled and crap cleaned and restarted and everything works fine, i have then reinstalled avast and it happens again after like 5 mins of being logged on,
have a perfectly clean system?
even tried combofix but nothing was detected
malwarebytes antimalware scans
avast scans
crapcleaner (latest version) cleaning

No matter what i do i cant fix it so i guess its at fault not me....

What exact version of avast do you have?
Is (was) there any other av and/or security software installed?
If so, which one(s)?

If you do a forum search there have been problems between avast and the Comodo 6 version which were resolved by reverting comodo back to 5.12, the new comodo 7 version apparently works well with avast if you search the comodo forum.

I don't know what the names of functions in Comodo are but are you running or putting comodo into learning mode when first installed ?

Probably best to wait till one of the members here that use Comodo are able to give some advice.

avast by itself (didnt test fully but could logoff so i guess it works), comodo by itself works(with defense+ hips auto sandbox disabled), both installed doesnt work(even with defense+ in comodo disabled) .. . . ..  i dont know anymore lol and the training mode doesnt change anything

the 'File system shield' is blocking SndVol.exe from being executed and i also can't make an exception for it within the avast options as it only selects folders, anyway to get around this? i need it on exclusions list for it to work, same with systemrestore, is it ok to put the whole Windows32 folder on exclusion?

Yes me on my Windows 7x64 laptop. No problems with Avast 2014.9.0.2013 and Comodo 6.3.302093.2976.
Did you run the evaluation scan on the main page?
It should then automatically flag all Avast files as trustworthy. If not, check for unknown entries and allow them.

And no, if you need to exclude the System32 and/or Windows folder (there is no "Windows32" folder), you could turn off or remove Avast.

If that still doesn't solve your problem, try an inplace upgrade (see: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2255099) or try a clean Windows install.
Your problems might be the result of using a registry cleaner, see Microsoft support policy for the use of registry cleaning utilities:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2563254

I don't know how it's actually called in the English version, but it's good to see that you have found the option. :)
You need to move those files to trusted files.
