Disable (not installed) Grimefighter notifications...
« on: March 10, 2014, 11:17:31 PM »
After upgrading a paid subscriber's Avast Professional to the current version, immediately after reboot, I saw a system tray notification that: "We found evidence of Grime on your PC." I am certain that Grimefighter was NOT installed with the version update in that after following up on the message, I was prompted to purchase Grimefighter. Knowing that this was not my computer and that the owner would not be pleased to be nagged to purchase another product, I was/am totally put off by this new marketing ploy.

Short of uninstalling the current version and reverting to the previous version, is there a way to permanently disable Grimefighter notifications?

I am also experiencing the same issue, with phone calls from our customers. Is using Endpoint the only way around the consumer advertisements?

The Grimefighter "stub" is installed by default, a mistake, IMHO. To fix, go to Control Panel... Programs and Features and select Avast. At the top, select Change/Uninstall and in the resulting dialog, select the Change section. This will show you all of the options in Avast, even those not installed. I am sure that here you will find that Grimefighter is selected. This is not the actual Grimefighter programme (which you must purchase) but the "stub" (or whatever you call it), which checks to see if it thinks you need Grimefighter. Deselect this, and reboot when asked. The "ads" will go away...

I too was wanting to get rid of this very tacky ad in a paid program.  Thanks.
