I did the scan in safe mode and it still comes up. C:\Windows folder is it's path. I don't think avast pro! deletes it, but the message does keep poping up.

If the information in the link above is correct, it may be possible to disable the "rootkit" service from MSConfig. A scan with anti-virus program(s) might then be able to remove the rootkit file and any malware hiding behind it.

Unfortunately, everybody seems to have put in their pennyworth in that thread and it is difficult to see who really knows what they are talking about...
