aswrvrt.sys issues
« on: April 12, 2014, 11:30:22 AM »
Hi, i am having an issue booting win 7 64bit, symptoms are:
booting safemode etc hangs on driver aswrvrt.sys, and in normal mode hangs on black screen white cursor...

I have tried to follow many threads where @Essexboy helps so many,
but for what i understand he creates a unique textfile for each case so i could not 'fully' try the attempted solutions :/

I really hope someone will help me...

Peace out :)

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool x64 and save it to a flash drive.
  • Plug the flashdrive into the infected PC.
  • Restart your computer and tap F8 to bring up the Advanced Menu, then click Repair your computer
  • Follow the prompt to enter keyboard input method, and then the prompt to enter a password. If the machine does not have a password, simply click Enter.
In the next menu, use the arrow keys on the keyboard to highlight Command Prompt and press Enter.
  • In the command window type in notepad and press Enter.
  • When notepad opens, click File and select Open.
  • Select "Computer" and find your flash drive letter and close the notepad.
  • In the command window type e:\frst64.exe and press Enter.
Note: Replace letter e with the drive letter of your flash drive.
  • The tool will start to run. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  • Press Scan button.
It will make a log (FRST.txt) on the flash drive. Please attach it to your reply.

Hi TwinHeadedEagle, thanx for the reply, i have a quick question before i can continue with the FRST scan.

My bios does not have the boot from USB function,
(i know it is very outdated and i have most recent version ready to install, never done this before but i think i am capable,
my prob is i cannot see if this new version 'add's the boot from USB capability :/ )

Anyway i am trying this method:
https://www.raymond.cc/blog/doing-the-impossible-boot-computer-from-usb-or-cdrom-even-if-bios-not-supported-using-plop/
My question to you is should i install to BootMenu or MBR?

You misunderstood :D

You don't need to boot from USB, just plug-in your USB into computer and follow instructions.

I forgot to mention that i have 1 HDD with dual boot (primary: WIN XP 32bit and secondary: WIN 7 64bit)

Maybe i am overthinking this, but if i run the FRST scan from the USB, wont it scan the XP OS, seeing its the main?
It is the WIN 7 that is having the problem.

Appreciate your patience xD

I appologise for late response and seeing the time now and tomorrow being sunday, i suppose you will reply on monday :)
I will atempt to follow said instructions untill i get stuck.

Peace out.

When you turn your computer, you get image like this, right?

At this point, you press F8 when Windows 7 is selected and then choose Repair your computer. Then just follow my instruction above.

Download attached fixlist.txt and save it to your USB flashdrive as fixlist.txt

>>  Boot into Recovery Environment

Start FRST in a similar manner to when you ran a scan earlier, but this time when it opens ....
  •     Press the Fix button once and wait.
  •     FRST will process fixlist.txt
  •     When finished, it will produce a log fixlog.txt on your USB flashdrive.
>>  Exit out of Recovery Environment and post me the log please.

Try to boot Windows normally...

hey, i will try the newest fixlist, appreciate all the help.

I dont know if this is valubale info on my situation, but the reason aswrvrt.sys caught my attention is because i was trying to enter safemode to try some solutions and could not boot in safe mode.

The initial symptom for my problem started after using Comodo Program Manager to uninstall some programs,
i was prompted to restart so that the task could be completed,
on boot (cant remember if before dualboot selection or after selecting win7),
i saw a brief text saying Comodo Program Manager is performing force delete... etc,
text dissapeared and then pc was idle and stuck for long no result just stuck, black screen nothing else.

Performing sfc/scannow results in "There is a system repair pending which requires reboot to complete." and reboot after reboot nothing changes same issue.

I just thought this info might be useful i dunno.

I want to thank you again for ur time, i respect alot the forum community in general, so thanx again :)

Here is the resulting 2nd fixlog.
