Can the Avast Web Site Send Binary SMS's?
« on: May 19, 2014, 10:17:40 PM »
Hi,

I have the latest versions of Avast Mobile Security and Avast Anti-Theft on my Nexus 4 running Android 4.4.2.  I understand that I can send a binary SMS from another Android 4.4.2 phone with Avast Anti-Theft installed to control my phone invisibly in case it's lost or stolen.  However I don't have any friends or family that have Android phones, so I'm limited to using the Avast web site or a non-Android phone.

My question is can the Avast Web site send a binary SMS to control my phone invisibly?  If not, are there any other options to control the phone that are not visible to the user?  Or is my only option to use the web site or another non-Android phone to send SMS's that will be seen?

Thanks,
Mike

For those interested in the answer to this question, Avast support advises me that the answer is no.  The only way binary SMS's can be sent is from an Android phone.  If you send SMS's from the Avast web site or from any non-Android phone with or without the Avast app the SMS's will be visible.
