pin recovery not set - can't access settings
« on: May 21, 2014, 10:48:03 PM »
I installed avast mobile security from my pc account.

To access any settings, i keep getting a prompt to enter my avast pin,
which I never set to begin with.

Trying uninstall or make changes from the settings menu is useless because
it asks me for the pin. A definite catch-22 since it defaulted to locking settings
so i'm out of luck.

I am totally locked out of my phone settings menu. I've seen this issue in
different forums and threads on this forum and have yet to see a solution
presented. I just want this off my phone and can't do that without the pin

Anybody have a solution?

Well you have to provide pin during installation, may be you have antitheft installed, which remembers the pin too. I do not understand what is "PC account", but in case you have your device connected to my avast account you can change the pin there. Ať least try to input four zeros in case you are totally sure about providing no pin before.

Well, I did not provide a pin during installation.

I have avast on my pc and it enabled me to download the mobile security
app to my phone. I created a password to create an avast account and the
password does not work to access the mobile security app.

I do not have anti theft installed and four zeros does not work as a
default password. I tried to open anti-theft and it asks for a pin.

I have seen the same issue on multiple forums as I've searched for a solution.
Same complaint. They were not prompted to create a pin but the system
is asking for one.

I had the exact same issue.  I was able to go to my.avast.com and access my phone under "Devices".  Under the Anti-Theft tab, on the bottom right is a blue "button" labeled "Change Settings".  This gives you access to be able to enter/change a pin.  When you save the settings, it will update the pin on your phone and you will be able to go forward.

I have the same issue like Paulfl. But on my.avast.com my Phone is not listed, so can't change the PIN. Is there any other Way. I have installed Avast Mobile from PlayStore. I'm not sure, but I think I haven't set a PIN when I install Avast.
Thank you

...I think I haven't set a PIN when I install Avast.
If so, try 0000.
