Threat from dropbox reported
« on: June 16, 2014, 05:49:45 PM »
Hello,

I keep getting this pop up notifying that the File System Shield has blocked a threat . As you can see in the attachement, it surprisingly points to the Dropbox process, and the object is a different temporary file each time, located in the Dropbox Cache Folder.

I found a similar topic in french on this forum and it seemed to me that there was some of agreement that it was a false positive. Still I'm not an expert on this matters and I would apreciatte a little bit of guidance.

I already scanned the process with virustotal and these were my results https://www.virustotal.com/es/file/4e9fe8a70848b103fd551e3a770eba71dce945d408856edfdc3fa6f0e9eb89ff/analysis/

Thanks in advance for any help, have a wonderful day.

virus and false positives should be posted in viruses and worms forum section   ;)

you can report it to avast lab using one of these options
you may add a link to this topic in case they want to reply here

You can upload files and report issues to avast  here : http://www.avast.com/contact-form.php  (select subject according to Your case)

You can use mail
send to virus@avast.com in a password protected zip file
mail subject:  False Positive / undetected sample (select subject according to your case)
zip password:  infected

or you can send files from avast chest
how to use the chest.    http://www.avast.com/faq.php?article=AVKB21

Thank you very much.

Just some questions: Are all these tips (Upload files, use mail, post a topic in the right section, send files from Avast chest) different ways to do the same? Or should I pick one of these options according to the situation I come across? In case it is the second, which of them is the one that would work best for me now?

the first two is the prefered....  first option also have some additional options under the subject tab
however if the file is detected and removed to chest you may not be able to restore it as avast may detect it again, but then you have the chest option   ;)
