Avast Firewall + Fix for Internet Explorer 8
« on: July 10, 2014, 06:33:50 PM »
XP SP3 os with IE8 / Avast Free Antivirus 2014.9.0.2021

I received a notice from Avast asking if I wanted to 'fix' the problem caused by the out of date (but most up to date for XP) Internet Explorer (which I don't often use). I intended to look further into that when I had more time but it hasn't appeared again. What does the fix do please and how can I access details of it again?

Also regarding the Avast Firewall being offered - would I have to stop using Windows Firewall to use that?

avast free does not have a firewall. you would have to upgrade (pay) to avast internet security if you want that

if you have Win XP, latest IE browsers are not supported.....so cant be fixed.   ;)

Thank you Pondus :)

Oh I see, I thought it was specifically for Internet Explorer 8, so this fix is being offered to all versions of Internet Explorer bar 8?
