Problem after update

I recently upgraded to v9.0.2021 on my desktop, at the end it asked that I reboot, so I did.

Then I got an Avast msg: firewall is off, but I can't turn it on, and resolve does not work.

The problem is deeper than that, as now I can't access the Internet anymore. I get a combination of errors (depending on where I try to fix the problem from:
"Ethernet adapter is disabled", No valid IP config", Ethernet does not have a valid IP conf")

So whatever the problem is, it's outside of Avast though likely caused by the Avast upgrade. My other PCs work fine, i.e. they can access the web, just this PC since I rebooted from the update.

Checked online, there are dozens of suggestions, none of which worked for me. Though one did mention it's a possible corruption of the registry, and this I've had in a previous update of Avast.

Other than trying to fix this problem I'm also afraid of updating Avast on my other PCs, tried a multitude of Network changes, tried ipconfig /disable, tried change/repair of Avast,  so I'm starting to believe it may be a registry problem as suggested by one post.

Anybody else have this problem, if so do you have a solution?

read and follow instructions. run it for all versions ever installed on your comp    http://www.avast.com/en-eu/uninstall-utility
