Can't stream episodes on ABC (Blocked as malware?)
« on: September 01, 2014, 05:04:08 AM »
Up until about a week ago i was able to stream full episodes on ABC's website, but now when the video player try's to start playing avast blocks the connection claiming it's malware.  ABC is a rather large TV network so i highly doubt their video player is actually infecting my PC.  Any ideas on how to fix this or work around it?

Update: For now It looks like my only choice is to disable the web shield since no amount of exclusions is allowing the player to operate.

Hi Tim C.,

Welcome to the forums.

Is this the site?  (Link has been modified to prevent accidental malware exposure):  hXXp://abc.go.com

Just visited, and merely loading the page caused an avast! web block.  Did not attempt to view any content or shows within.

See attached below:

Please do not turn off your webshield protection until we can investigate further, seems there might be something there, as in a drive-by download, where the visitor does not have to do anything at all other than visit a site to get infected.  No clicking on anything is necessary.  Sometimes there's a reason for avast! behavior other than it is a false positive result; it can be a legitimate block on some nasty malware.

Hi,
This was indeed a FP and was fixed already. Those of you who have streaming updated enabled should be able to visit the page without any problem, the others will have to wait a few hours for the next VPS update.
