windows 98 se compatibility

a friend tried to install the latest version 4 on her mums pc, i,m not sure the make of the pc but i think it was a packard bell and its running win98 se. problem is she downloaded avast but when she tried to get it to run the pc kept flashing up a message saying error report send or don,t send. i know what this is but i was wondering if there is a conflict when running avast on a system running 98 se as i haven,t encountered this problem b4

Hi i have installed avast on 98se before no problem, have you uninstall all traces of the antivirus program she had on before, if not then take all traces off, then uninstall avast then do a clean reinstall then up date it you should find then that it works ok then.

I've used avast! with Windows 98 and Millernium. Not a conflict at all...
Maybe she has another antivirus installed in her system...
Which is her firewall?
What I can see is that she's not able even to install avast!, am I right?

I am currently using Avast on 98 se, and I am not experiencing any problems.

(When I first installed, I did have an issue with getting it to scan my incoming and outgoing e-mails, which was fixed thanks to the help of this forum, but since then it has been running and updating without problems).

Did you double check the download bye size. Sometime the bye get lost while download (line lost, click line, mismatch line cycle, etc.)

Try download again and reinstall it.
