Videos Do Not Play

Since downloading antivirus I have been unable to watch videos on all websites be it YouTube or even the Videos friends post/share on Facebook. The videos either simply do not load, plays for 5 seconds then stops, of speeds through the video in seconds.
Is there anything I can do that will allow me to watch videos again on my laptop?

What antivirus did you use before avast?
Did you removed it before installing avast?
Did you remove it according to that vendors instructions?
