Could you attach a screenshot of the Avast popup please

Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.
  • Close all open programs and internet browsers.
  • Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.
  • Click on Scan.
  • After the scan is complete click on "Clean"
  • Confirm each time with Ok.
  • Your computer will be rebooted automatically. A text file will open after the restart.
  • Please post the content of that logfile with your next answer.
  • You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[S1].txt as well.

Thank you. Please see attached. The screen shot is after I rebooted the laptop. It used to be from different sites but now it is only coming from the same site.

OK this is something new and I have not yet been able to locate the trigger for it.  Do you have a restore point prior to when you started getting the alerts ?

If so could you restore to that and if the alerts are not present run a fresh FRST scan so that I can run a comparison

the system restore did not work but the pop ups are gone. i attached the system restore error as well.

I don't use explorer.exe but when this started happening, there were two explorer.exe on the processes. When I stopped one, nothing happens but when I stopped the other, the task bar disappeared. Anyway, now I only have one explorer.exe and the avast web shield pop ups are gone.

Thanks
