Hi,

Avast has been detecting a recurring URL:MAL attack - sometimes as frequently as every minute or two, and then 8 to 10 instances of COM surrogate will open in the task manager and consume all available resources.  I've run malwarebytes, adwcleaner, hitmanpro,  roguekiller, tdsskiller, norton online virus scan, avast scan, and housecall, all to no avail.  I've exhausted the things I'm comfortable doing so I'm looking for a little insight to solve the problem.

Thanks,

Erik.

ok thanks.  I have attached a few logs.  Yep and Yep2 are the first mbam scan I ran, and the most recent.  All others as indicated.  Hopefully this helps.

A new programme has been released to combat Poweliks so I would like to try it if I may.

1. Please download ESET Poweliks cleaner  to your desktop

2. When the download is complete, navigate to your Desktop, double-click ESETPoweliksCleaner.exe.

3. Read the terms of the End-user license agreement and click Agree if you agree to them.

4. The tool will run automatically. If the cleaner finds a Poweliks infection, press the Y key on your keyboard to remove it.

5. Once the tool has run reboot the computer

6.  A report will be located on your desktop (ESET Powliks date_time)  please post that

7.  Then run a fresh FRST scan so that I can confirm it has gone

How is the computer behaving now ?

CAUTION :  This fix is only valid for this specific machine, using it on another may break your computer

Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it:

Quote
BHO-x32: No Name -> {5C255C8A-E604-49b4-9D64-90988571CECB} ->  No File
EmptyTemp:
CMD: bitsadmin /reset /allusers

Save this as fixlist.txt, in the same location as FRST.exe
Run FRST and press Fix
On completion a log will be generated please post that

THEN

Download and run farbar service scanner

Tick "All" options.
Press "Scan".
It will create a log (FSS.txt) in the same directory the tool is run.

Please copy and paste the log to your reply.

Everything seems OK right this moment, the next couple of days should tell as we aren't terribly heavy computer users these days.

Here is the requested log.

Could you attach the Farbar System Scanner (FSS) log as I need to confirm that no services were tampered with
