This Should Not Have Happened
« on: November 11, 2014, 08:39:31 PM »
After installing the Windows updates on my husband's Window's 7 computer it automatically updated to the latest 2015 version of Avast.  Had I wanted to update I would have done it manually.  This makes me sooooooo mad.  Why did it do this without asking which is how I had it set in the settings?

Can't log into my account......says password is incorrect, tried to reset it but even that link doesn't work.

I'm just about ready to uninstall Avast on both computers.   >:(

Midnight, it is unreasonable to expect someone to answer in 30 minutes.

Second of all. Is there something wrong with clearing avast! off and downloading avast! 2014? What were your settings?

Hi -midnight,

AV software gets more and more complicated and therefore things can go wrong sometimes.
Those are the things that happen in a world that never becomes a perfect world.
That should not be a reason to say goodbye to the av solution that has served you so well for all these years.
If you uninstall it, it will be for a short period I hope and then you gonna miss it and reinstall it again.
Well I send you some tulips from where I live online to make you feel a bit better  :)

If I knew how to clear Avast and go back to Version 2014 I would do it on both mine and my husband's computers.  I had both computers set to ask when a new program was available.

Hi -midnight,

Pay attention with FileHippo downloads, because of this info: http://www.ghacks.net/2014/07/08/beware-filehippo-tests-adware-distributing-download-manager/

Hi -midnight,

Use the direct installer and read here why

What is the FileHippo Download Manager?

The FileHippo Download Manager delivers software straight from our supercharged servers to your computer. The Download Manager allows us to use multiple network connections at the same time to guarantee you the fastest, safest delivery possible.

During this process, the Download Manager may offer you other free applications provided by our carefully chosen partners. These offers are completely optional and you are not required to install any additional applications to receive the software you selected.

What happens when I run the FileHippo Download Manager?

After launching the FileHippo Download Manager from your Downloads folder, just double click on the file that will be clearly named and then follow the instructions.

The Download Manager may show offers for other free applications and you get to choose whether you accept these or not. No offers are ever automatically installed without your acceptance.

If you choose to pause/cancel the download, the Download Manager will place a shortcut on your desktop so you can resume this at a later time.

What happens when I accept an offer?

When you accept an offer, the application will be downloaded and installed on your computer. Please note that we screen all application offers to ensure they are safe and can be uninstalled easily.

What information does the Download Manager collect?

The FileHippo Download Manager does not collect personally identifiable information and adheres to the FileHippo Privacy Policy which you can see here.

Do I have to use the installer?

No. All FileHippo Installer Enabled products have a Direct Download Link that you can use instead of the Installer.

I've taken down what I posed. FileHipppo uses files.avast.com, which means, everytime Avast! updates their site, the link auto leads to the newest version. Therefore, Filehippo is advertising 2014, but actually has 2015.
