Got my first VIRUS warning on AVAST...
« on: August 29, 2005, 06:38:15 AM »
since new Hard drive /reformat-------(admit low skill level )

First off, love the siren/warning,no way gonna miss that! lol

Anyways, an AVAST window popped up, saying virus was detected, gave advice of adding to chest.

Tried 3 times, warning still popped up.

Finally thought it out, closed the window causing it.

Afterwards, did a full AVAST scan, highest level.

No virus hits!

My limited skilled questions ;)....

Does that mean the virus never got in, or is it in chest, or...
something I still need to worry about?

Ghost, first thing, avoid the huge number of blank paragraphs at the end of the post. Your message is followed by a large blank space.

About the problem, can you remember the name of the file and its path?
What did you answer when the virus message come? Delete or send to Chest?
If you open the Chest, is the file there on the Infected folder?

"huge number of blank paragraphs" modified that, thanks...

Put in chest,
just deleted everything in  chest, is that not the method to delete the viruses in it?

Chest is safe for storage.
You can let the files there for two weeks, for instance, then if you're sure they're infected and are not necessary system files, just delete them  8)

Well, that was interesting,

" and are not necessary system files,"

Just tried to respond to yer answer and keyboard woudn't type.

Used system restore to an earlier point and that seemed to fix it.

Maybe I deleted   necessary system files, lol
Guess I should move a little slower about deleting from chest ;)
