That's one of the optional updates that I'm not going to attempt to install.

Why will you not install that update? Are you using Windows 8

This update came up and I installed it. It was an optional update. Does anyone here know what this update does? Name of the update means Diagnostics Tracking Service, so it tracks diagnostics service and send them to Microsoft? Is that what it means?
I hid kb3022345.

My computer is Windows 7. I didn't receive that error message or any other sorts of problems/issues.
You've tried running sfc /scannow and didn't receive the error ???
I certainly did but didn't realize till I read this thread what caused it.
I've now uninstalled KB3022345 and hidden that update from future updates.

bob3160 what is sfc /scannow?

You obviously still have some learning and reading to do.
sfc is the system file checker. This command is used to check for and fix system file errors.
The update in question causes this vital tool to malfunction. Since you aren't aware of this, your comment that
the update didn't have any negative effects is obviously not correct since you haven't used the tool since installing that particular update.

So is this sfc tool also called as checking for errors in disk. Open up my computer>right click properties>click on tools and under error checking click on check. Or is this tool totally different from that? So if I don't use this tool i will be fine?

Oh I see. Yeah I have heard of this tool before but never ever used it, because I don't know how to use it at all. So did this MS update been reported to Microsoft about this update causing to crash the sfc tool? I am in this forum for a very long long time but I have still lots to learn. This is how I learn and gain knowledge and experience from experienced users like you bob3160 and pass that knowledge and experience from me to others  :). Thanks to you guys  :)

I suspected KB3022345 to be not playing nice with my system.  Knocked Reliability History down from a 10 to a five-ish in two days.

Proof is attached below:

Removed and hidden.
Windows 10 Home 64-bit 22H2 Microsoft Windows Defender - Windows 11 Home 23H2 - Windows 11 Pro 23H2 Avast Premier Security version 24.4.6112 (build 24.4.9067.762) UI version 1.0.803

You're welcome.

If you or anyone else should ever wonder about unseen or unknown problematic programs or updates installed on their Windows system(s), this tool will make it much easier to track down the offending culprit(s) and consider removing it from your system if necessary.

Especially useful when a system in use by multiple users who install their own programs or forget to say something is amiss.

One of the programs I've removed was Secunia PSI.  Seems Secunia engineers are not as responsive to user complaints as they should be, and newer versions I installed never fixed the repeated 'stopped working' flags experienced in all versions I ran.  For a security-based program this became more than a nuisance issue.

I had 8 optional updates today. I chose to hide KB3022345 and the one to install Skype and installed the other 6.
